Adult Orthodontics

Adult Orthodontics in St. Petersburg — It’s Never Too Late.

One in every five orthodontic patients today is an adult. Whether you never had orthodontic treatment as a child, your teeth have shifted over time, or you’ve simply decided the time is finally right — Dr. Mansour offers discreet, efficient orthodontic options designed to fit professional lifestyles, busy schedules, and real-world priorities.

Adult orthodontic treatment at SPOCS is not a scaled-down version of what we do for teens. It is a specialist-level clinical service built around the specific biological, aesthetic, and lifestyle considerations that come with treating adult patients. Your complimentary consultation — including CEPH and PANO imaging at no charge — is always the first step.

Did You Know? Adult bone has finished growing, which means Dr. Mansour is moving teeth through established structure — requiring careful, precise force management. This is one of the reasons choosing a specialist matters more for adult treatment, not less.

Which Option Is Right for You?

Dr. Mansour offers three primary treatment paths for adult patients. He will recommend the right option based on your clinical needs, your aesthetic preferences, and your lifestyle — not simply the most expensive or the most popular.

Invisalign®

The most popular choice for adult patients at SPOCS. Invisalign® clear aligners are custom-fabricated to fit your teeth precisely and are virtually invisible in normal conversation. They are completely removable — you take them out to eat, drink, brush, and floss. No food restrictions. No one has to know you’re in treatment. Dr. Mansour is an Invisalign® Platinum Provider, meaning he brings a high volume of successfully completed cases and advanced training to your treatment.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces use tooth-colored brackets that blend with the natural shade of your teeth — far less visible than traditional metal braces in conversation and photos. They deliver the same clinical precision and specialist control as metal braces. Ceramic braces are an excellent choice for adults who need the reliability of fixed treatment but prefer a subtler appearance. They work especially well for complex cases where Invisalign® may not be the optimal clinical choice.

Metal Braces

Traditional metal braces remain the most clinically powerful orthodontic option and are the right choice for certain complex adult cases. Some adults prefer them for their efficiency and straightforward maintenance. At SPOCS, Dr. Mansour uses a precision metal bracket system engineered for patient comfort — lower profile, smoother, and more comfortable than older bracket designs.

We Hear These Every Week. Here Are the Honest Answers.

"Am I too old for braces?"

No. Teeth move at any age when force is applied correctly. Dr. Mansour has treated adults in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond. The clinical considerations are different from treating teenagers — but the results are just as real.

Invisalign® and ceramic braces are chosen specifically because they’re barely noticeable. Many SPOCS adult patients are in client-facing professional roles and find the impact on their work image to be minimal to none.

Most adult cases at SPOCS range from 12 to 24 months, depending on complexity. Progress appointments are every 8–12 weeks. Dr. Mansour will give you a realistic timeline at your consultation — and will not stretch treatment unnecessarily.

Discomfort after new aligners or an adjustment is normal and typically mild — manageable with over-the-counter pain relief and usually resolving within a few days. Invisalign® and ceramic braces are generally more comfortable than traditional metal brackets.

Dr. Mansour presents a complete investment summary — including any insurance benefits — at your complimentary consultation. Payment through OrthoFi with a $500 minimum down payment. FSA and HSA are accepted. No surprises, no hidden fees.

Very common. Teeth shift when retainers are not worn consistently after prior treatment. Dr. Mansour evaluates your current situation and designs a corrective plan. In many cases, adult refinement treatment is shorter than original treatment.

Treating adults is clinically different from treating children and teenagers. Understanding those differences is part of what separates a specialist’s approach from a general dentist who offers orthodontics on the side.

Bone is Fully Mature

Adult bone is denser and less responsive to force than developing bone. This means Dr. Mansour must apply forces more carefully and progressively to achieve predictable movement.

Existing Dental Work

Adults often have crowns, veneers, fillings, bridges, or implants. Dr. Mansour designs treatment around existing dental work and coordinates with your dentist where needed.

Gum & Bone Health

Healthy gums and adequate bone support are prerequisites for orthodontic movement. Dr. Mansour’s full diagnostic imaging identifies any concerns before treatment begins.

Treatment Doesn’t Have to End at Straight Teeth.

Many adult patients choose to complement the end of their orthodontic treatment with additional services that complete their smile transformation. At SPOCS, both are available — no additional referrals needed.

Philips Zoom™ Teeth Whitening

Up to 8 shades whiter in a single 45-minute in-office appointment. Available at the completion of your orthodontic treatment or as a standalone service. $500. FSA/HSA eligible.

The SPOCS Retainer Program

Protect your investment with 5 years of replacement retainer coverage for $750. Replacement retainers at just $50 per arch — vs. the standard $225. Ask at your debanding appointment. FSA/HSA eligible.

01

Complimentary Consultation

Dr. Mansour evaluates your teeth, bite, and jaw using CEPH and PANO diagnostic imaging — included at no charge. He reviews your existing dental work, assesses your specific goals, and presents a realistic treatment plan and complete investment summary. No pressure. No rush.

02

Custom Treatment Plan

Every adult treatment plan at SPOCS is designed for you — your case complexity, your aesthetic priorities, and your lifestyle. Dr. Mansour recommends the option that achieves the best clinical result within your parameters, not simply the most popular one.

03

Treatment Begins

Whether aligners or braces, treatment begins at a dedicated placement appointment. Dr. Mansour walks you through what to expect in the first week, how to manage your appliance, and what to do if you have questions between visits.

04

Progress Appointments Every 8–12 Weeks

At each appointment Dr. Mansour reviews your tooth movement, adjusts your treatment, and ensures you’re on track. You see Dr. Mansour at every appointment — not a rotating associate.

05

Completion — Your Finished Smile

At your final appointment, Dr. Mansour takes a complete set of clinical photographs, fits your retainers, and walks you through long-term retention. Philips Zoom™ whitening and the Retainer Program are both available at this stage.

Is it too late to get braces as an adult?

It is never too late. Teeth move at any age when force is applied correctly. Dr. Mansour treats adults in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and older at SPOCS Orthodontics in St. Petersburg. Adult bone responds differently than developing bone, which is why specialist-level care matters more, not less.

The best option depends on your clinical case, aesthetic priorities, and lifestyle. Invisalign® is the most popular choice for adults at SPOCS because it is virtually invisible and removable.
